US v. Google: Key Updates from the Ad Tech Antitrust Trial

Google is back in court, this time battling the Department of Justice over alleged monopolistic practices in the advertising technology sector.

The trial began on September 9 in Alexandria, Virginia. The DOJ claims that Google has unfairly dominated the market for ad tech tools used by publishers and advertisers, effectively stifling competition. Google counters by asserting that its products are efficient and beneficial for users, and that it competes robustly with other market players.

This case follows a significant win for the government in a separate antitrust lawsuit, where a judge ruled that Google had illegally monopolized the online search market. As the ad tech trial unfolds, the government is also considering potential remedies to enhance competition in the search domain.
